Rota checks before you publish.
RotaHero checks each week against the working-time rules for Great Britain before it goes out: rest between shifts, weekly rest, weekly hours, night work, breaks and consecutive days. A week that breaks the minimum rest, the weekly rest, the weekly hours limit (allowing for anyone who has opted out of the 48-hour week) or the night-work limit can't be published until it's sorted, and stricter limits apply to young workers. Breaks, consecutive days and long shifts are flagged for you to decide.

How do I join the beta?
Email hello@rotahero.com and tell us a little about your business. We send you an invitation link to set up your account. The beta is free.
Do I need to install anything?
No. RotaHero runs in the browser on a computer, tablet or phone, and your browser can add it to your home screen. Your staff see their rota and send their requests from their own phone.
What happens when the free trial ends?
For 1 month you get the whole product. At the end you choose to subscribe or, after a short grace period, the account becomes read-only: you can still sign in and download all of your data.
What happens to my data if I stop?
The account becomes read-only: you can sign in, view your records and download everything. We give the account owner at least 30 days' notice by email before an account is deleted, so you have time to download your data first.
How does auto-scheduling decide who works when?
It keeps to the hard limits first: opening hours, how many people you need, weekly hours, rest between shifts, roles, the days people can't work, and absences. Among what's left, it favours the people furthest below their weekly hours and spreads shifts across the week. Where a shift can't be filled within those limits, it leaves a gap and tells you.
Can I change what it produces?
Yes. Edit any shift by hand, lock the ones you like and regenerate the rest; locked shifts don't change. Save a week as a template and reuse it.
Will it work for my kind of business?
If your staff work shifts, yes. RotaHero isn't built for one trade: cafés, bars, shops, salons, gyms and leisure venues all plan hours, roles and rest the same way.
Can two managers edit at once?
Yes. Every record is versioned. If two managers change the same shift, RotaHero shows both versions, with who changed it and when, and you pick which one stays.
What if my internet drops?
RotaHero needs a connection to make changes. If yours drops, the app keeps showing the rota already on your device and pauses editing until you're back online.
Who counts as "active staff"?
Someone who works at least one shift in your account that month. People on your list with no shifts that month cost nothing.
